Steve Holmes has worked as a general practitioner partner since 1989. He spent 13 years in a practice bordering the Yorkshire Dales and the Ribble Valley (Earby) between Lancashire and Yorkshire. He moved to his current practice in Shepton Mallet in 2002, working as a half-time partner while enjoying a portfolio career.
He is a previous Chair of PCRS and is the current education lead. He has been a member of the British Asthma Guidelines (BTS/SIGN) since 2005, leaving the guideline executive in 2012 but remaining on the pharmacology group until 2015. He was a founding member and chair of IMPRESS (BTS/SIGN) and currently leads the Somerset CCG respiratory programme board, having done this previously with involvement in commissioning and service development since 2002.
He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, is a reviewer for more than ten active peer-reviewed journals and has been involved in lecturing in many parts of Europe.
