NHS outcomes companion document and self-assessment guidePosted on: 28 Sep 2017
The NHS Outcomes Strategy for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Asthma (published in 2012) identified six priorities for improving the treatment of these conditions. A Companion Document, which accompanied the Strategy, listed actions healthcare systems should take to improve their care in those six areas.
Although the Strategy and Companion Document were produced in 2012 and based on the priorities and evidence available at the time, their goals and objectives remain just as relevant today. To assist you in using the Companion Document to support your own service development, the Primary Care Respiratory Academy have produced a ‘Summary and Self-assessment Guide’. This offers a quick-reference guide to the Strategy’s objectives and actions, as well as self-assessment sheets to help you identify areas for improvement and develop action plans in your own service.
