Fit to Care: key knowledge skills and training for clinicians providing respiratory care

There is undeniably variation in the standards of support, guidance and intervention provided to patients living with respiratory conditions. This is partly as a result of the varying levels of training, education and experience of clinicians involved in the day-to-day management of these patients. The Fit to Care initiative aims to help address these inequalities.

This article, intended for commissioners and clinicians alike, offers guidance on how clinicians can assess their own competencies. It also recommends how, when appropriate, they may request ongoing professional development from their employers.
