Fit to Care: key knowledge skills and training for clinicians providing respiratory care

Posted on: 1 Feb 2019

Fit to Care addresses variations in the standards of support, guidance and intervention provided to patients living with respiratory conditions. Such variation has been demonstrated by national reports, such as the National Review of Asthma Deaths. This is due in part to the varying levels of training, education and experience of clinicians responsible for their care.

The link below takes you to an article intended for commissioners and clinicians alike. Here, you will find guidance on how clinicians can assess their own competencies and, when appropriate, how to identify and seek ongoing professional development from their employers.

In addition, it guides healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality care that is in line with national evidence-based guidance. It uses standard, advanced and expert levels, reflecting the different roles of healthcare professionals involved, irrespective of their professional discipline.
